Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Pinned Image

Awkward:
spelling the word Bottom with an E... // Dancing like crazy with my sisters // My Grandparents bringing perogies (my greatest weakness) for dinner. God, will you forgive me if I take today off? // Running outside in a tank-top and bare feet to take a photo. I'm crazy. // Getting my purse tangled around my body (not purposely of course). // My eight yr. old sister arguing with me about something computer related.  // Telling my sister a story about a  magical onion that healed a small town of sick people, hoping that she would like onions. Apparently children aren't interested in the healing powers of onions. Who knew? // Some very...*ahem*...disturbing...ads popping up on my computer // People calling me Emma. Em is fine...so is lee. Why Emma?? // Reading everyone's "I'm Sick" posts. // Being sick // Trying to cross-country ski for the first time. FAIL. // Having a dream that my Mom sent off my job application form without going over it to check if everything was right. And then when I got the job, everyone called me Jimmy because that's what she wrote on the form. :s  Can I have a dream interpreter here?

Awesome:
Loud Music // Big Snowflakes // Baby Rosie coming next week!! // My big furry hat // Homemade french fries :D  // Rapping along to B. Reith *waves at Brooke* //  Jamie Grace and TobyMac concert soon! // Bass // Photography Class // Life. // Snow....well, looking at it... // My little sister giving me important life advice

Guest Post // Aysha

Hey guys! Today I have an amazing guest post to share with you. The Lovely Aysha from The Creative Muslimah, has put together this awesome tutorial for making your own Triangle Geo Dangle Earrings. Thanks Aysha! I hope you guys enjoy :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assalamualeykum (peace be on you) and hi there!

I'm very happy and honoured to be guest-posting for Emma-lee, who's obviously a very talented and passionate blogger!
My name is Aysha and I'm the blogger behind The Creative Muslimah. Besides being a part-time blogger, I'm a full-time student and a jewelry-making fanatic; especially when it involves polymer clay!

And let's face it. Sometimes we're just standing there in a store, adoring a beautiful pair of earrings or a necklace, but the price tag just doesn't seem to be quite friendly. Often we end up walking away from love at first sight, and that's rather sad. But here's where DIY'ing enters the picture! Have you ever thought of DIY'ing some jewelry items and accessories instead of buying them? If not, then tune in, because polymer clay is definitely one of the best materials to use for this purpose!

Today, I'll be sharing a very simple tutorial on how to make these geometric triangular dangle earrings out of polymer clay and a few other supplies:

I tried being all nifty and making a one-picture tutorial in Adobe Photoshop, so please bear with me, as my skills in Photoshop are very, very amateur. :-)

Step 1: Condition your clay and roll it flat. Cut it into a rectangle.

Step 2: Cut diagonal lines on the rectangle as shown in picture 2.

Step 3: Cut diagonal lines in the opposite direction of the first ones as shown in picture 3. That way, you'll get lots of triangles on your clay sheet.

Step 4: If you do not have a pinvise as I do, then now's the time to poke a hole in the top of your triangles for the jumprings to sit, and follow rest of the instructions. Otherwise, leave them as they are and bake them according to the clay package instructions. I use FIMO soft, which needs to be baked at 110 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.

If you DO have a pinvise like me, then after your clay has baked and cooled down, drill a hole in the top of your triangles as you would've poked them.

Step 5: Attach a small length of chain to one of the holes with the help of pliers and either a jumpring or some wire (as I did). Then attach the other end of the chain to the other triangle.

Step 6: Glue earbacks onto two of the triangles and let them be until the glue has set.

And voila! You can now enjoy your new addition to your jewelry collection! Wasn't that easy?
These geometric earrings are sleek and simple, yet they make a sure statement, don't you think?

If you liked this tutorial, be sure to check out my other polymer clay related DIY tutorials and do let me know what you think!

Thanks again to the lovely Emma-lee for having me over!

Yours sincerely,
Aysha @ The Creative Muslimah

Re-Introducing Me.

Let's go back to Tuesday, May 8th 2012. That's my bloggaversary date, the day I wrote this post. My very first post ever. Pretty Brief eh? Yeah, let's just say....It wasn't really a good & proper first post. And I'm actually kind of embarrassed to show you guys. I named off a few of my hobbies, and basically said Hi and welcome to my blog. That's it. Plain and Simple. But, I feel like plain and simple wasn't enough. I feel like I haven't really truly introduced myself to you. So today I'm going to set things straight, and re-introduce myself.  Because I want you guys to really know me. I mean who likes reading blogs that are written by an unknown person in cyberspace? not me. :b

So here we go, it's the much dreaded post about the author of this blog:

Let's just get one thing straight before we go any further, I am was adorable.
And I learnt at a very young age to "grin & bare it" while my younger sister was crying.
I still have to use that method every now and then....

Anyways....

I'm not all that great about talking about myself. So that would be why I called this a "much dreaded post". But, who knows! you might actually find this very interesting. :b

Yes, yes, it's true. I like making things. Now, I'm not the amazing tissue paper seamstress I used to be, but I do still enjoy other crafts. Just take a look on my Pinterest! and Meanwhile, I've probably only made maybe 20% of the crafts I pin....But, I use the right side of my brain most often. :)
and I'm sure you will find at least one cool craft project on this blog.....hopefully...
I also LOVE blog design, and drawing! and pretty much anything art related.
I'm one of those girls who can't play soccer or hockey {or really any sport} to save her life. Yup. that's me :b

^Annnd that's my family!^
Cute little one eh? Yeah, I've got 5 siblings and counting :)
and in case you didn't already guess, we homeschool. And I'm so thankful for that.
I love my family so much! and being able to go to school in the same house at the same time with them is pretty special (well, most of the time).

hehe and you thought we lived in igloos here....

Okay, so the truth is...we don't live in igloos or plywood shelters here :b
But, I am a country girl. (country girl, not cave woman)
We live in a wood house surrounded by trees, and I love it here!
as for the photo above...well, that's the result of too many Bear Grylls shows :b

and lastly {but certainly not least} I am a Christian.
I believe that Jesus Christ, God's Son, came to die for the sins of everyone.
And that I am alive because of him. I'm not ashamed to write about my faith on this blog,
but I'm not going to try shoving religion down your throat.
I would be more than happy to explain more about Christianity to you, if you want though.
I love Jesus, and I pray that he will help me lead others to him too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

whew! I'm done now! I hope you guys enjoyed this little post about me :)
I know I didn't cover everything...but you can't say I didn't try.
So thank you for reading my little blog.
I hope you will stay awhile, and didn't get too scared away by reading this post.

~ Thanks ~

Happy Valentine's Day

Pinned Image

Well, it's that time of year again. Yeah, you know what I mean.
So, I thought it would be nice to write about it. What to write, what to write??? oh! I know!

It's Arizona's 101th birthday today! Exciting eh? Yeah, and it's also Single's awareness day. Which brings me back to that same topic I was trying to get out of earlier....I don't really have anyone to get all mushy over though. But, I do think that it's a great time to remind ourselves what love means. Love's not reserved for couples, and neither is Valentine's day! Everyone needs to show love. And Valentine's day is just a great excuse. :b And coincidentally, it's also RAK (random act of kindness) week! (no joke, I did my research) So show a little love to someone this week. Heck, show love all year round!! Because it really isn't all about getting your loved one a fancy box of chocolates...although, there really is nothing wrong with that ;b

Have a great Valentine's Day People!

Funny Stuff

This is the kind of stuff that amuses me. Mostly because I am a homeschooler, and this is just so true.
Enjoy!

Lent

That's what today is. Lent. If you don't know what that is, this post pretty much sums it up.

(and if you don't have time to click on that link, here's a very quick description)

Basically, it's a 40 day time period when a lot of people (Christians) choose to fast from something, so they can focus on praying etc. I also believe it's a way to help us remember all the sacrifices Jesus gave for us. Last year I gave up bread, and peanut butter. It was pretty hard, but those were two things that I LOVED. And so from today, until Easter Sunday, I'm giving up Wheat. Yup, wheat. It's going to be difficult (especially when your mother makes your favourite foods on the first day), but I'm going to try.

So, wish me luck :) I hope that maybe you will consider doing this, out of respect for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Have a great Wednesday!

What I Wore Wednesday // Valentine's Edition

                      skirt - Winners // Shirt - Garage // Cardigan - Old Navy // Shoes - Stitches

Well in case you haven't heard, Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! So I thought it would be appropriate to wear pink. I quickly realized how little pink clothing I have. So this outfit was one of the more difficult ones to get together. But, I managed. Anyways, I hope you guys have a great Valentine's Day! single or not, I'm sure you'll get some chocolate one way or another (unless you gave it up for Lent).

Do All Things With Love

Pinned Image

                                                         ^^Do everything with Love.^^

We can help the poor without compassion, and we can speak words without meaning, but if we don't have love, everything we do is meaningless. Without love, we are nothing.

Awkward & Awesome

Pinned Image

Awkward:

Bowling. It's just really awkward when you're too weak to bowl with one hand :( // Trying to put eyeliner on another person's eye. Excuse me while I stretch apart your eyelid....ahem, *waves at Sydney* // Trying to do jumping jacks in your room, and having your sister come up from downstairs to tell you you're making the ceiling shake. Nice. // Typing (not even reading it aloud) the name of a song, and getting it stuck in your head. grrrrr.... I hate that. //  the question, "Are you on Facebook?" no, some people just don't have facebook...okay! // Sorry // Playing on Webkinz. Maan, does that ever bring back memories! //

Awesome:
Having 63 followers! you guys are the best! // Chookey // One month left until Rosie's born! (I need a nickname for her if you guys want to help me out with that) // Friends coming over // Birthday Parties! // Slippers. // Awesome Songs // Emailing fellow bloggers // Nice Comments. They make my day :) //

Have a great Weekend everyone!

What I Wore Wednesday

Glasses - Zenni Optical // Shirt - Old Navy // Sweater - Urban Planet
// Coat - Old Navy // Jeans - American Eagle //  Boots - Stitches // Necklace - Urban Planet

So I'm sorry I wasn't really smiling for any of the pictures. It's not because I think I'm too cool to smile or anything (honestly, I would die if that were true), It was just really cold. And running back and forth pressing the self timer button, and posing, was not the most enjoyable activity. But with the coat, it's a pretty warm and comfy outfit for the Winter. I really like this sweater!...well, mostly the elbow patches on the sweater...and the colour. I love the colour! But, anywho...Thanks for reading! I hope you people have warmer weather than we do here :)

Bye Penny

So as some of you may know, today is the last day of the Canadian penny.

Thanks Google for reminding me :)

And as a Canadian I just had to post about it. Because I like pennies. They're cute. And they have a cool colour!  Maybe lucky pennies will be extra lucky now that they've stoppped making them. Who knows. Maybe it will be something I can tell my kids about when I'm older. I don't know. But, I think it's just going to be weird. So anywho, bye bye little penny! I'll miss you :)

has been very busy. Lots of cleaning for Midwife visits, and travelling for Birthday Parties. I'm pretty exhausted, and I feel like I might be fighting off a cold. Lots of Vitamins do the trick! Yesterday we took a drive down to Grimsby to visit with these people. We had a ton of fun bowling, and doing each others make-up :b  It was a blast! So here are some photos from Life Lately. Enjoy!
